As a globally citizen, I know how important it is to be globally competent. Being globally competent is about knowing whats going on in the world and what you can do to help. I am ashamed to say that before I came to ASGL I didn't want to know what was happening around the world, because I, naively, thought that other countries problem wouldn't affect me. I didn't even know that they needed help because I wasn't informed, but now that I know I want to help. If I wasn't informed of the problems going on around me I wouldn't be interested in helping people through Criminal Justice. Being globally competent, having knowledge about the world, can actually be a very useful to someone. Broadening ones knowledge, broadening ones view on the world can open many possibilities that you would otherwise not have had the opportunity to explore.
