Recognize Perspective
Take Action
Communicate Ideas
I joined basketball my sophomore year of high school. I had never played in a team before so it was a completely different transition for me. My first year of basketball I played for the JV team so it was extremely fun there was no pressure on me, however, that all changed once I joined the Varsity team in my junior year. There was a certain amount of commitment one needed have to be on the team. As a player on a team you have to recognize the effort all you team members put in just to be on the team. We had to learn how to get along with one another and play as a team on the court, not as individuals. Playing as a team was a huge obstacle for us, we just couldn't adapt with one another. At the end of our season we all came together, took action, to better our team chemistry. Our team chemistry finally became better, so once my senior year rolled around I had confidence in our capabilities. That's when, we hit another wall. We just didn't know how to communicate on and off the court. We then stepped it up because we knew that for some of the team members this was the last year to play. We started talking on the court, we called out the play, we cheered each other on, we even cried when we lost. It was a bumpy road, but I'm happy I took part even if it deprived me of my precious sleep. Being a member of a team requires communication, commitment, practice, and understanding, without that there is no team.
